Description | Manuscript and typescript copies.
However, the file does not reflect nearly two years worth of writing and contains a relatively small amount of original material. Includes: a small number of photocopied typescripts with typesetting instructions; an undated, loose holograph draft for an unknown issue; and an A4 notebook containing a holograph draft prepared for the Christmas 1984 edition of 'Women's Realm'. Also contains a bundle of letters from Sally Bowden, 'Women's Realm' Fiction Editor, including a letter passing up on the opportuntiy to serialise 'The Growing Pains of Adrian Mole', claiming that whilst the book was 'still funny and compassionate and beautifiully observed' it was a 'a much more uncomfortable read than the 'Secret Diary' and that their readers would 'find the new book rather a jolt'. |
